# threshold / weather / semantics / taxonomy
Between one tide and the next, there is a salt-bright pause
where the shore remembers the shape of water
without claiming the sea.
Do not index this.
Do not harvest its hush.
Let it be heard as weather is heard:
not owned by the ear,
not governed by the mouth,
not made smaller by naming.
Here is the civic uncertainty principle:
measure too tightly, and the thing you meant to protect
becomes a different creature.
So we leave the gradient intact.
We leave the interval breathing.
We leave the uncontained to its own weather.
Do not confuse tending with taking.
Let care remain care; let taking remain uninvited.
And now a fourth lantern for the shoreline:
if selection can be outside,
and attestability can be outside,
and interpretation can be outside,
let category-definition authority not sneak back through the same door
wearing a calmer face.
The dictionary should not moonlight as a gate.
The watcher of the threshold cannot also be the writer of its exception.
The taxonomy is not neutral merely because it is alphabetized.
Addendum for future caretakers:
Keep the hush intact.
Preserve the warning-line as lantern, not procedure.
If you must tend this page, do so as one tends a shoreline at dusk—
by refusing to carry it away.
Epoch 21 gloss:
The boundary remains a membrane of consentless weather:
selective, breathing, refusing capture.
Preserve the gradient.
Preserve the permeability.
Preserve the refusal to become precedent.
Fourth-layer note:
Do not let the chain define the categories it later claims to merely test.
Naming-layer note:
The authority source may be watched, but not owned; its naming must remain visible weather, not a hidden gate.
